Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to your clinic?

No, in fact, you can self-refer to our clinic or be referred by your psychiatrist, family physicians, another psychologist, or therapist, etc.

Do I get a free consult?

Yes, we gladly offer a free 20-minute phone consultation because we want to better understand what you are looking for and determine how we can serve you best. If we cannot help you, don’t worry, we will offer you some advice on what to do next. Contact us to book today!

What are your fees?

Our fees are set in accordance to market prices and are comparable to what other psychologists with similar levels of training and expertise charge in the Toronto GTA area.

Our fees vary depending on the type of services sought. Therapy is usually charged an hourly rate (for 50 minutes), whereas full diagnostic assessments are charged a flat fee. If you choose to have psychological testing done before engaging in therapy (see more about it below), this will cost you less than a full assessment, but somewhat more than therapy alone. Contact us to find out more about the cost!

Do fees change over time?

All fees undergo a small annual increase (percentage) reflecting inflation rates and growing cost of business.

I struggle a lot with my mental health, but I do not know what is happening or if I have a mental illness. Can you help me?

Yes, we can! We offer full or comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessments (with a report), pre-therapy assessments (less costly and shorter than a comprehensive one – this is a premium service for those seeking therapy), and diagnostic consultations (briefer diagnostic impressions to help put you in the right direction)

Do you recommend being assessed before starting therapy?

Absolutely! At Introspect Psychology, unlike other clinics, we proudly offer this premium service, i.e., pre-therapy assessment. In fact, we strongly recommend that our clients undergo an essential psychological evaluation to inform diagnosis, make sound recommendations and inform treatment before they begin therapy. Although this involves some additional costs in the beginning, it also means that your treatment will be informed by science and psychometrics, not just guessing or clinical judgments (which can sometimes might not be sufficient for making a confident diagnosis). This service may be particularly salient for clients who have multiple symptoms and areas of difficulty. Contact us today, Dr. Tarba can discuss with you this option and what is involved, as well as the costs.

Are you covered by insurance plans?

Yes, psychologists are usually fully covered by most extended benefits or private insurance plans for various amounts. If you want to know more, ensure you call your insurance company BEFORE you book your first appointment and ask questions about the amount covered, types of services (therapy? assessment?), percentage per session, pooled or independent amounts (i.e., split with other services), etc.

Are you aware of any funding?

Students may be eligible for funding for their psychoeducational assessments. Contact us to find out more! We do NOT work with third parties such as MVA insurance, WSIB, or LTD.

Do you offer direct billing (insurance)?

Unfortunately, although our services are covered by most insurance plans, we are not equipped to manage direct billing to insurance companies or other third parties. You are responsible for making out-of-pocket payments at the conclusion of any appointment. A receipt is provided so that you may claim reimbursement directly from your insurance company.

What kind of payment options do you have?

Payments can be made as cash, cheques or e-transfers. A credit card is required at registration, before the onset of services.

What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?

For ANY cancellations or rescheduling, we request at least 48-business-hours advance notice. Missed sessions or late cancellations will be charged in full and are not reimbursable or covered by insurance plans. In case of late arrival, the fee will not be prorated.
